Hearing Aid Wearers Have Headset Options

February 9th, 2017  •   0 Comments

The brands that we sell provide professional-grade, high quality headsets for every user and situation. For those tasked with purchasing headsets for hearing aid users, we have put together a list of options by manufacturer. Please note that the headsets listed below end in quick disconnect and require a bottom cable as well. We recommend the purchase of an amplifier, rather than a QD cord, to boost the headset's performance.

EPOS

The Impact SC 660 TC, is a high quality wired headset. The SC 660 TC is compatible with all standard, telecoil-equipped hearing aids.

With EPOS Voice Clarity wideband sound and its ultra noise cancelling microphone, the SC 660 TC delivers a superior and natural voice experience that makes conversations crisp and crystal clear – optimizing speech intelligibility even in noisy contact center and office environments. In addition to the speaker, SC 660 TC is equipped with a hearing aid-compatible telecoil transmitter on both sides of the headset, resulting in a richer sound experience and offering the user the greater flexibility of a double-sided solution. The transmitters send a magnetic field that can be picked up directly by the hearing aid, making it easy for users to focus on a conversation. The headset features EPOS ActiveGard technology that protects users from acoustic shock and sudden sound bursts. MSRP is $349.95.

The EPOS UI 770 amplifier is the companion piece that we recommend. The EPOS UI 770 allows you to switch between the headset, handset and PC, adjust the volume of the headset speaker and mute the headset microphone. Its automatic power save function provides outstanding battery lifetime of up to 1 year. A "C" battery is included in the box. MSRP is $120.00.

Jabra

The GN2125 Telecoil headset is the solution for hearing aid users, who gain the benefits and increased work efficiencies associated with headsets.

Especially designed for people who use hearing aids, the Jabra GN2125 Telecoil is equipped with a hearing aid-compatible telecoil that is fitted to the plain side of the earpiece. The telecoil cancels out surrounding background sound while heightening the sound quality from the telephone. This gives hearing aid users clearer, crisper phone conversation that is free from interference from background noise. It features a noise-cancelling microphone to eliminate ambient noise. MSRP is $225.00.

The Jabra Link 860 amplifier features Digital Signal Processing, which sets the input signal to a certain level and makes sure the audio is not too loud. If the input signal is too high (the volume of the telephone is too loud), distortion may result. To resolve this issue, lower the volume of the phone to a medium level, and then use the Link 850/860 to raise the volume. MSRP is $135.00.

Plantronics

SupraPlus 261H is a Telecoil hearing-aid compatible headset. The SupraPlus series is a staple in the contact center world, and features a comfortable, adjustable headband for all-day wearing. The headset has a voice tube microphone. MSRP is $148.00.

The Plantronics Vista M22 amplifier works with the headset to provide the best possible sound. The amplifier has loud noise protection, advanced echo management, and background noise reduction. Two AA batteries are included. MSRP is $120.00.

Can I Change the Battery in my Bluetooth Headset? and Other Frequently Asked Questions

December 16th, 2016  •   0 Comments

1. My favorite Bluetooth headset loses power quickly and the headset "dies" in the middle of a conversation. Can I replace the battery?

Typically, batteries cannot be replaced in Bluetooth headsets; however, this is dependent upon the headset you’re using. Contact us and we can help determine if a replacement battery is available for your BlueParrott, Jabra, Plantronics, Sennheiser or VXi headset.

2. The ear hook that came with my Bluetooth headset has been lost. Are there replacement ear hooks* available? *Or: ear gels, power cords, connection cables etc.

Yes, we have lots of accessories for your Bluetooth headset. Simply find your headset by using the “Search” bar on our web site, find your headset, and click on the product listing. Once there, select the “Accessories” tab at the bottom of the product page. A complete list of available accessories will be displayed. If your headset has been discontinued, don’t despair! We have accessories for some older model headsets – simply give us a call (866-998-9991) and we can help.

3. How do I pair my Bluetooth headset with a smart phone or tablet?

No matter which device you’re using, you will need to enable Bluetooth in the Settings menu of your device and your headset will need to be powered “on” and be placed in pairing mode. That way, the headset and phone/tablet can communicate and connect (or, pair). Follow the prompts on the smart phone/tablet and pairing is complete.

NFC (Near Field Communication) pairing is also available for some phones, and headsets. Contact us for additional help with pairing/connecting your Bluetooth headset to your smart device.

4. Is there a way to change the wearing style of my Bluetooth headset?

This is dependent upon the headset that you choose. Some headsets offer a choice in wearing styles; while others may have an add-on piece that can be purchased.

5. Can I use my Bluetooth headset with my laptop/PC?

Yes, provided you have a UC version of the headset. In plain English, a “UC version” is enabled to connect to a PC/laptop via the included Bluetooth dongle that will plug into your laptop/PC via USB. The dongle must be paired to the headset out of the box. Contact us to ensure you have a UC headset.

Bluetooth headsets are incredibly useful, and more intelligent than ever, with voice activated commands in some models. When you have the right tools, taking and making calls, listening to music, and participating in webinars become second nature. Take advantage of these headsets to streamline your work and life! And with all of the wearing options available, the right headset is just waiting for you.

Contact us at 1-866-998-9991 and we can determine the best Bluetooth headset for your needs.

What is a Convertible Headset?

December 12th, 2016  •   0 Comments

Did you know that a few headsets can be worn in different ways? Headset manufacturers understand that users have unique preferences on the way a headset is worn. Some people love the traditional over-the-head band, while others prefer an on-ear wearing style. A convertible headset is 1 headset, with 2-4 different wearing style options. Convertible, 3-in-1, and 4-in-1 are all ways to describe a particular headset that can be worn interchangeably.

For example, the Plantronics EncorePro 540, a quick disconnect headset for desk phones, offers three wearing styles in the box. The EncorePro 540 has a C-clip design that makes it easy to change wearing styles, to allow for user preference.

Ear Hook You can bend the ear hook (or, ear loop) to fit comfortably on the ear. To change ears, simply rotate the boom up and over, and pivot the ear loop to the other side.

Behind the Neck Place the band over both ears and behind the head. When the headset is properly adjusted, it will feel light, balanced and stable.

Headband Position the headband on your head, so that the ear cushion rests on the ear. Place the T-band on the opposite side of your head, above the ear, and lengthen or shorten the headband as needed: the band is fully adjustable.

There are many other QD (quick disconnect), USB and wireless convertible headsets from Plantronics as well as Jabra and EPOS | Sennheiser, so be sure to contact us to find the right headset for your unique set-up.

How to: Side by Side Training with Wireless Headsets

December 7th, 2016  •   0 Comments

With a wireless headset, employees can work from their desk just as before, but now have the ability to leave their desks whenever necessary to test, consult, or refer to resources elsewhere in the office while continuing the conversation with the customer. Wireless headsets de-clutter the workstation, and eradicate the fluid spills, snagging and general inconvenience associated with cords.

Another really great benefit of most wireless headsets: supervisors can move freely among agents in the call center and guide their work, joining calls on the fly without the need for Y cables and physical interruption.

Many of the headset manufacturers refer to this feature as "headset conferencing."

Side by side training is easy when you use wireless headsets.

Here's how:

1. Remove the primary/host headset from the base.

2. Drop the secondary/guest headset into the headset cradle. The host headset will hear a tone to accept the new headset. The host headset will click the "Answer/End" button.

3. Remove the guest headset from the host base. The headsets are now paired and ready to work together. This process can be repeated for an additional 2 headsets, for a total of 4 headsets on the same call.

4. The guest headset can be muted for listening purposes; simply unmute if necessary.

5. To end the conference/pairing feature, press the End button on the primary/host headset. It's that simple!

Connect a Bluetooth Headset to Desk Phone with Plantronics MDA200

November 17th, 2016  •   0 Comments

A recipe for Unified Communications success: Take your existing headset, add in the MDA 200, and you get up to 3 connection options – the Plantronics MDA200 connects QD and USB headsets to both desk phones and PCs/softphones, with simple plug-and-play setup. If your headset is a Bluetooth UC version, here’s your third option: connect the Bluetooth headset to the MDA200 and you can make calls on your desk phone! Revolutionary!

Businesses that are transitioning to softphones, yet need to keep a connection to the desk phone, will appreciate this nifty device that functions as a switcher and amplifier. And, with the overwhelming prevalence of the open office environment, we have customers ask if they can get an Active Noise Cancelling headset to use with their desk phone; with the MDA200, this is possible! Two options are the pictured Blackwire 725 (corded USB) or the Voyager Focus (wireless Bluetooth UC).

The MDA200 is a future-proof investment in your Unified Communications toolbox, with firmware updates to keep the MDA200 up-to-date and always compatible.

Be aware that Plantronics has verified only certain headsets for use with the MDA200; however, in our small scale testing, we found that the MDA200 is compatible with other brands of headsets.

In our testing, we used a Plantronics Voyager Focus Bluetooth UC headset, a Plantronics SupraPlus 251N QD headset with DA80 USB processor, a Jabra Stealth UC Bluetooth headset, and a Jabra Evolve 40 corded USB headset. We connected the headsets to desk phone, PC, and in the case of the Bluetooth headsets, to our smartphones. All four of these headsets worked well with the MDA200: We experienced great call quality from desk phone, PC and smartphone, and excellent sound when streaming music from both PC and smartphone.

The possibilities are nearly endless, and quite exciting for those looking to utilize one headset with all of their communication platforms. The MDA200 is buyable on its own here, or in 2 different bundle combinations: the Voyager Legend UC Bundle or the HL 10 Bundle.
